ICT Resource Development within DCIR

With the ever increasing demand for change to the latest technology platforms, DCIR has committed to upgrade its current customs automation software which is called ASYCUDA++ to its latest version called the ASYCUDA World, written entirely in Java.

It is considered 100% web based which will run both locally or collaboratively, networked through the internet.

However one of the most critical issues that the organization may be facing is the expert technical ability to use and manage the new system. Therefore, knowledge in specific areas of technology is required and DCIR has now appreciated the need for its ICT officers to attain necessary knowledge and certification in certain areas to better administer the new automated system for Customs.

JAVA; to which the ASYCUDA World is built around is considered the major area for further training. A Senior ICT Officer was then selected to attend a very comprehensive and up-to-date four-day course on Java Foundations with Object Training in Melbourne, Australia’s leading trainer in software engineering technologies and methodologies including UML, Agile, Java/JavaEE, C++ and .NET.

The purpose of this training is to provide the ICT officer with an opportunity to practice in-depth Java programming principles in the real world.  The training has provided the ICT officer with an understanding of the key features of the language and has developed his skills in Java Programming and object oriented development.
