Welcome to Vanuatu Customs & Inland Revenue WEBSITE

Inland Revenue’s 2015 Industry Partnership Initiative

  •  increase the voluntary VAT compliance levels within selected industries;
  • increase Inland Revenue presence in the community;
  • improve the community’s perception of Inland Revenue as a professional organisation; and
  • target VAT audit resources at the highest risk cases within selected industries.

The program will focus on education and services with regards to VAT compliance and audit by providing a range of advisory services that will include registering for VAT, how to properly complete a VAT return and maintaining good VAT records in particular the importance of tax invoices. These services will be delivered through one-on-one consultations with business operators (mostly at their place of business), seminars, and presentations at business and/or industry events.

The industries covered by this initiative will be selected using criteria’s available internally and will be mainly based on the information in the VAT Office RMS7 (Revenue Management System).

The initial focus will be on:

  • average VAT returns outstanding;
  • average VAT debt outstanding; and
  • likelihood of a taxpayer having VAT discrepancies.

The VAT Office is excited about this initiative and looks forward to leaning more about different industries operating in Vanuatu and working together to make VAT obligations easier and more understandable.
