Automatic uploading of DHL manifests implemented

As part of this effort, FR8 Logistics has successfully developed proprietary software for the automatic uploading of DHL manifests directly into the ASYCUDA system without any manual data entering. This advancement has significant benefits for DHL clients with regards to expedite Customs clearance.

Manual manifest data entering has been very time consuming and subject to human error which FR8 Logistics has identified as a priority to overcome. Accurate manifest entry is now successfully achieved in a matter of a few minutes instead of hours enabling Customs processing to be completed prior to flight arrivals. Port Vila DHL Express clients can now benefit from having their goods delivered to their door within an hour or two of landing in the country.

Since 2008, Customs has been encouraging freight forwarders to implement this initiative. This is primarily to ensure Customs receives accurate cargo information in a timely manner. Accurate and timely submission of data is essential for effective Customs risk management and effective cargo management.

Customs therefore welcomes this latest development at FR8 and would like to thank the team at FR8 for their commitment to making this a reality. Customs wishes to see other freight forwarders making the same effort for the sake of efficient customer service as well as to avoid Customs penalties for late manifest submissions or incorrect manifest information being submitted to Customs via the ASYCUDA system. This latest development at FR8 adds to their initiative back in April 2014 to have a prepaid account with Customs to facilitate their Customs clearances.

To date no other freight forwarders have considered both the above initiatives of automatic manifest uploading and Customs prepaid accounts. Customs is therefore appealing to freight forwarders and Customs Brokers to seriously consider these trade facilitation initiatives.
