DCIR now on Facebook!

DCIR Facebook Page

One of the techniques to ensure compliance with the laws and rules DCIR administrates is to encourage high level of voluntary compliance. Voluntary compliance is best achieved with the effective dissemination of the relevant and credible information to those who deal with DCIR for their Customs or tax needs and requirements.

DCIR has already been making use of available mediums to disseminate information, free of charge, to its stakeholders. This includes the active use of emails, its own in-house built website and Intranet, and its Weekly Column on the Vanuatu Daily Post. This time DCIR has come up with another initiative which is to use the social network, again free of charge, to communicate with its stakeholders and clients.

Friday 5th September 2014 was another historical milestone for DCIR when the Management officially launched for the very first time, DCIR’s own Facebook group page. The launching was accompanied with the endorsement of certain rules and guidelines which the Management agreed to, to ensure the effective use of this page to meet its purposes.

This page will be administered by DCIR’s IT team and all posts and responses will be handled by respective DCIR Managers. The page can be viewed by the Public on Facebook, but comments will be restricted to members only. The page administrators will also ensure that only people or companies with real names will be accepted to be members to this page. The page will contain all important DCIR information and news including all articles from our Weekly Column, other information which may have or may have not been released to other mediums, as well as events within DCIR such as trainings, other developments and even activities of our social club, WeCare.

DCIR sees the use of this page as an effective avenue to ensure instant circulation of information and likewise, instant feedback from its stakeholders. We also anticipate that it would also be a great avenue for us to measure the level of knowledge and understanding of DCIR laws, rules and policies by its stakeholders. This would therefore mean that we would be able to better decide if further consultations or awareness are necessary to ensure the expected high levels of voluntary compliance are achieved.

The Facebook address for this page is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/VanuatuCIR/. Anyone who has any business to do with DCIR or is interested in our work is encouraged to visit this page now and become a member. To ensure members are always kept up to date with DCIR laws, rules, policies, news and developments, they are encouraged to configure their Facebook accounts to receive all posts from the DCIR page as they are being posted.
